More On Ric Flair-ROH Last Night, J.R On Misawa, Dreamer

Tommy Dreamer has a new blog entry up on fans.wwe.com where thanks the people who have supported him throughout his career.

Jim Ross issued the following in a new blog over on his official website regarding the passing of Mitsuharu Misawa: "Mitsuharu Misawa was never an acquaintance of mine but I felt like I knew him from watching many of his DVD's which were usually with men that I did know. Misawa was arguably the best in ring performer in the world in his prime. First of all, Misawa knew how to wrestle and how to wrestle physically. The fundamentals had been drilled into this legend as a young man who went on to become a Japanese National Amateur Champion. Several things stood out to me about Misawa. In addition to be a physical, fundamentally sound athlete, timing and toughness were two of his greatest attributes. Great timing is a gift that largely can't be taught. It's like ring psychology. Some of it can be taught but mostly it must be a learned trait and some people are in the business for years and never learn great timing or main event level ring psychology. Toughness is another trait that can be nurtured but generally can't be taught. Misawa was naturally tough and it showed. And his fans loved him for it. They also loved his passion and the emotional ride on which he would take them. That's what pro wrestling is, selling emotion. Another significant piece of Japanese, wrestling history died this weekend. Mitsuharu Misawa apparently died in the very spot that he gained his incredible fame and resounding respect from wrestling fans around the Globe....inside a wrestling ring. It's a damn shame that the vast majority of American wrestling fans won't give a second thought about the untimely death of "a Japanese wrestler." I encourage all fans to find DVD's of Misawa and watch him in his prime, in the 90's especially. If one is really serious about about being a highly skilled, pro wrestler, then study the late Mitsuharu Misawa. May he rest in peace."

Although he made an appearance at last night's Ring of Honor event in New York City, NY cutting a promo in the ring for the live audience, Ric Flair did not take part as a special guest referee in the main event for the ROH World Championship as previously scheduled. As noted earlier here on the website, Flair left the venue after his promo, which was originally thought to have taken many in ROH by surprise until it was revealed that owner Cary Silken was aware Flair would be doing so. Flair had requested at one point for his role at the event to be changed to a special guest enforcer instead of a referee, but at Flair's request he opted not to take part in the main event any longer. The belief is that this is due to his current obligations with WWE and had already pulled out of previous ROH TV tapings for HDNet. There were said to be many within ROH who were upset with how Flair handled the situation and how it didn't live up to his end of the agreement, but praised Silken for handling it the way he did. Flair will be making three more scheduled appearances with ROH next month and is expected to finish up after that point with the company. Note from Ryan Clark: On a side note, I was at the show and while I was in the bathroom Ric walked in while two security guards waited at the door for him. Talk about an awkward moment folks! I'm sure you'll be interested to know that Ric did in fact wash his hands on the way out!
